Acupuncture & Acupressure
Acupuncture is a type of therapy involving the placement of tiny, hair-thin needles into certain pressure points on the body to relieve and treat a broad range of symptoms and conditions. In the workplace, needles are applied to parts of the body where employees do not have to remove clothing.
Acupressure is often thought of as simply acupuncture without the needles. Practitioners use their fingers, palms, elbows or feet, or special devices to apply pressure to acupoints on the body’s meridians.
Group sessions allow the practitioner to treat several people at once, resulting in lower cost and no need for time slot management. These 20-40 minute treatments are typically done in chairs, couches or mats on the floor. Employees are fully clothed, and needles or pressure is gently placed in the head, below the elbows, and below knees to treat pain in various parts of the body, while also alleviating mental distress. The quiet setting allows for a peaceful, meditative and healing experience as the body’s energy systems shut down and “re-boot” – very similar to what we do with our electronic devices when they are malfunctioning!
