Children begin recognizing race as early as three months old, even though their understanding differs from that of teens and adults. Adopting a colorblind approach can unintentionally foster biases and leave children with unanswered questions about the world around them. In this session, attendees will learn how to engage in open, honest conversations about race with children and family members. You’ll develop practical strategies to help children build racial fluency, address both implicit and explicit biases, and understand systemic racism in a way that is appropriate for their age.
