It happened, yet again. This time in Uvalde, Texas. 19 innocent children and 2 teachers were inexplicably murdered by a gunman with a semi-automatic weapon. It marks the 27th school shooting and the 213th mass shooting in America—this year alone.
We are devastated and angered, grieving, and looking for answers, as are your employees. The following sessions were developed to provide a safe space to address the situation and help your teams navigate uncertainty and emotional stress.
100% of the proceeds from the following sessions you book will be donated to Everytown, a movement of more than 8 million moms, mayors, survivors, students, and everyday Americans working to end gun violence.
We stand with the victims of all senseless shootings, their families, Robb Elementary, the town of Uvalde, and every American wishing to bring an end to gun violence in this country.
Protecting Family Mental Health
The Uvalde shooting is hard to watch and speak about, but avoidance is also harmful. In this talk, a specialist provides actionable items for individuals and families to process difficult emotions, combat misinformation, and encourage compassion in the household, including help for parents navigating difficult conversations with children. The session concludes with time dedicated to Q&A, providing more specific answers for those seeking to improve the emotional wellbeing of families. | Book It>
Dealing With Grief & Fear
Grief is a highly complex but normal and natural human response to the loss. When death is sudden, unexpected, and potentially traumatic the grief process can become complicated by blame, guilt, shame, anger, and fear. Sometimes managers and colleagues may feel uncertain about how best to support their team after a traumatic event. During this discussion attendees will learn the best strategies to support others and themselves through the natural grieving and healing process and how to deal with the fear of uncertainty. | Book It>
Sustaining Our Energy & Wellbeing During
Times of Crisis
Everything is normal right now because nothing is normal right now. Coupled with the stress of entering the third year of the pandemic, the tragic school shooting has exacerbated feelings of distress, anxiety, fear, heartbreak, and a myriad of other emotions, all of which are normal in present times. This talk discusses how energy is impacted by current events and provides practical tools to continue moving forward, sustaining energy and wellbeing. | Book It>
Managing Headline Anxiety
Images of the scene at Robb Elementary are dominating headlines, TV news, and social media feeds. While it is important to be informed about this event, constant consumption of social media and the 24-hour news cycle has been proven to negatively impact mental and emotional health. This talk teaches participants the benefits of a “digital detox,” how to unplug in order to maintain mental health, and how to safely process current events when engaging with social media. | Book It>
What’s Your Role in Social Justice?
It’s difficult to grasp the aftermath of the Uvalde school shooting, as it has been every other similar event in the past. Watching from a distance and not knowing how to help is distressing. Everybody has a role to play in the social justice movement. In this session, participants become familiar with the different roles in the social change ecosystem–-from disrupters to guides, to storytellers, and many more–-and identify which of these roles match their skill set, experience, and temperament. The session explores practical applications for each role in various professional, social, and cultural contexts. | Book It>
Restorative Yoga for Healing
The constant flow of devastating updates from the shooting can affect both mental and physical health. Restorative yoga is a therapeutic and calming form of yoga; its purpose is to relieve the body of stress and disease, promote relaxation, and activate the parasympathetic nervous system. Move and breathe together during this vulnerable time. | Book It>
Stress and Anxiety Release Meditation
The terrifying grip of anxiety is debilitating, and the feeling of powerlessness in the wake of the crisis in Ukraine is exacerbating these emotions. This meditation helps participants come together, and relieves the feelings of isolation brought on by anxiety. | Book It>
