November Holiday and Observance Sessions

November unfolds as a tapestry woven with significance, celebrating both tradition and introspection. It stands as Native American Heritage Month, honoring the rich history, culture, and contributions of Indigenous peoples. This month is a tribute to resilience, wisdom, and the enduring legacy of Native communities.

Simultaneously, November brings forth Thanksgiving, a time when gratitude takes center stage, encouraging us to gather with loved ones and cherish life's blessings. Additionally, it hosts National Stress Awareness Day, a crucial reminder to prioritize mental well-being amidst life's demands.

Within this mosaic of observances, our wellness sessions align harmoniously. They offer guidance on stress management techniques while acknowledging the importance of gratitude and embracing the values espoused during Native American Heritage Month. Join us on this transformative journey toward holistic well-being, intertwining with the spirit of thankfulness, honoring Indigenous cultures, and nurturing mental resilience.

To honor National Stress Awareness Day:

Stress Management for Parents: Parenting is undoubtedly one of the most stressful jobs out there. From years of sleep deprivation to coordinating work and childcare schedules, parenting-related stress is guaranteed, but you can manage it with the right tactics. In this health talk session, attendees will discuss sources of stress, common symptoms, and stress management strategies. Parents will walk away with an action plan to help prevent, manage, and reduce stress, which is a huge factor in our mental and physical health.

Physical Effects of Stress and Management Strategies: We think of stress as a mental affliction, but it often manifests in physical ways. Muscle tension, constant headaches, stomach discomfort, a rapid heartbeat—these are physical symptoms of stress. In this health talk session, attendees will learn new strategies to minimize the impact of stressors in our lives, and, consequently, on our bodies. The physical effects of stress can exacerbate or compound other conditions, and recognizing these symptoms before they worsen is a step towards better health management.

Strategies for Stressed Caregivers: In the US, 1 in 3 adults is a caregiver to someone who is sick, elderly, or has special needs. Caring for a loved one strains even the most resilient people. It is emotionally, physically, and financially taxing, often leaving caregivers feeling drained, angry, alone, or sad. In this health talk session, attendees will study the signs and risk factors related to caregiver stress and gain strategies to manage these stresses, while non-caregivers will learn ways to provide support. When we practice self-care, we can nurture, protect, and attend to our loved ones with more compassion, patience, and diligence.

Flip the Script on Stress and Anxiety: Money, health, relationships, social media, work. With so many sources of stress, it can be hard to go home, relax, and disengage, leading to different physical and psychological impacts. In this health talk session, you'll learn coping strategies to manage stress and anxiety every day, helping you meet life with a calm and clear presence. Learn how to recognize stress, how it manifests in the body and mind, and the different forms of stress. With new tools and a breadth of information, we can shift our mindset to overcome stress and maintain our emotional state.

Meditation for Stress & Anxiety Release: If you've ever experienced anxiety, you know how debilitating it can be. Know that you are not alone. The National Alliance on Mental Illness estimates that 40 million adults in the U.S. have an anxiety disorder. In this meditation session, attendees will learn how to soften anxiety and reduce stress, helping the mind stay in the present moment. You'll discover ways to manage daily stressors and see situations for how they are, not the ways they can go wrong.

To honor Thanksgiving and Native American Heritage Month:

Embracing Native American Heritage Month: Join us for an enlightening health talk led by a distinguished mental health expert, focused on celebrating Native American Heritage Month. Discover the rich tapestry of Native American culture and the profound significance behind honoring it. This engaging event will delve into the historical importance of Native American heritage, shedding light on their contributions and struggles. You'll gain a deeper understanding of the cultural, spiritual, and societal aspects that shape Native American communities today. By the end of this health talk, you will leave with newfound knowledge, a heightened appreciation for this vital heritage, and a sense of unity with the values that underscore Native American traditions.

Attitude of Gratitude: Expressing appreciation is polite and usually done out of habit, but did you know that deliberately giving thanks has observable health benefits? For starters, gratitude can increase one’s energy, optimism, and empathy. Practicing gratitude has also been shown to help reduce blood pressure, improve sleep, and promote life satisfaction. In this health talk session, you will study how to proactively cultivate gratitude. Subsequently, you'll learn to apply your newfound attitude of gratitude to increase personal and workplace wellbeing, happiness, and productivity.

Family Thankfulness Meditation: Frustration, anger, excitement, fear — children are full of big feelings. Meditation equips them with the tools they need to respond calmly, and teaching children the importance of mindfulness early is an excellent way of helping them understand and become comfortable with their emotions, no matter how big. In this meditation session, parents and children will learn how to be fully present to better communicate their wants and needs. Whether through words or energy and behavior, children can practice healthier and more successful ways of communication.
