What Actually Drives Engagement: 4 FitPros LIVE Client Stories

Description of what is in the photo.

Here's a little secret from our side of the screen: great engagement isn't luck. It's not the perfect app icon or a once-a-year wellness week, either. It's people deciding wellbeing matters at their company, and then showing up for it again and again.

We've had a front-row seat to some pretty remarkable wins across our FitPros LIVE community. So we're pulling back the curtain on four of them. We've kept the names out of it (they know who they are), but the playbooks are all here. Each team took a different road, and each one shows what really moves employees from "maybe later" to "count me in."

Story 1: Give people more than one way to win

The result: 557 of 838 eligible employees (66%) joined in, logging 4,000 check-ins in just two months.

This team turned August and September into a company-wide wellbeing season. Instead of betting everything on one challenge, they ran five at once: hydration, steps, meditation, fitness classes, and health talks.

That variety was magic. Not everyone wants to chase a step count, and not everyone wants to meditate. With five doors open, almost everyone found one that felt like theirs.

And the walkers? They really walked. 189 employees logged 52,000,000 steps together. That's roughly 26,000 miles, or a bit more than a lap around the Earth (we did the napkin math; give or take a few blocks).

What drove it:

  • Real buy-in from the top. Leaders didn't just approve the promotion. They championed it.

  • A steady drumbeat of internal promotion. Reminders went out regularly, not once and done.

  • Co-branded flyers from FitPros. We designed promo materials with their brand and ours side by side, so the campaign felt like their program, not a vendor's.

Steal this: Offer a mix of challenge types so every kind of employee has an easy way in.

Story 2: Make the reward worth showing up for

The result: a 97.7% challenge registration rate. Yes, really. Nearly everyone signed up.

This national insurance brokerage knows a thing or two about incentives (it's kind of their whole industry). They paired their company step and check-in challenges with rewards employees genuinely cared about: discounts on their health insurance premiums, plus a rotating mix of e-gift cards.

The clever part was how they handed out the e-gift cards. They used a variable reward schedule, so employees never knew exactly when the next reward might land. That little bit of surprise kept people checking in, week after week, long after the novelty of a new challenge usually wears off.

What drove it:

  • Meaningful incentives. A lower premium is a reward people feel in their paycheck, not just their step count.

  • A dash of unpredictability. Variable rewards turned participation into something fun to keep up with, not a chore to finish.

Steal this: Tie your challenges to rewards that matter to your people, and keep a few surprises up your sleeve.

Story 3: Celebrate people, not just top scores

The result: 1,393 employees engaged, with 6,700 event check-ins.

This global IT services firm made recognition the heartbeat of its program.

Every month brought a new challenge, and every challenge came with its own raffle.

Here's what we love most: the raffle wasn't just for the fastest runner or the most dedicated early riser. Anyone who participated had a real shot. That made the whole thing feel welcoming to the beginner and the seasoned pro alike.

Then came the shoutouts. Each month, the team shared a personal note spotlighting every raffle winner, sent to the whole company. It's a small gesture, but being seen by your colleagues is a powerful motivator. And it reminded everyone else that next month, it could be them.

What drove it:

  • A monthly rhythm. Fresh challenges kept things from going stale.

  • Accessible rewards. Raffles rewarded showing up, not just winning.

  • Public, personal praise. Spotlighting real people turned participation into a shared story.

Steal this: Recognize effort out loud. People repeat what gets celebrated.

Story 4: Make it the home base for culture

The result: one app serving HR teams in multiple countries and every corner of the company, from tight-knit IT squads to company-wide ERGs.

For this global networking technology company, FitPros LIVE isn't a box to check. It's a toolkit, and they use every drawer.

Need a steps challenge to rally a close IT team? Done. Want to sponsor a special event for an Employee Resource Group? Easy. Looking for a team-building session people can rewatch later? They've got recordings for that.

The real game-changer was the events calendar. They use it as the single home for all their internal events, wellbeing or not, and send push notifications to the right people at the right time. Because the calendar adapts to each employee's location, everyone sees only the events that are relevant to them. In practice, every employee gets their own tailored calendar.

That works because ownership is shared. Multiple HR points of contact across several countries manage the app together, so local teams can plan local moments while staying part of one global culture.

What drove it:

  • Programming for every community. Challenges and events built around ERGs and individual teams, not one-size-fits-all.

  • One place for everything. A single, location-aware calendar cut through the noise.

  • Distributed ownership. Empowered HR leads in each region kept things relevant and fresh.

Steal this: Treat your wellbeing platform as the hub for connection, and give local leaders the keys.

The common thread

Four companies, four very different playbooks. But look closely and the same truths keep popping up:

What works

Where you saw it

Variety, so everyone has a way in

Five challenge types; steps for one team, events for an ERG

Consistent internal promotion

Regular reminders, co-branded flyers, push notifications

Rewards that feel within reach

Premium discounts, surprise gift cards, open raffles

Recognition and buy-in from leaders

Company-wide shoutouts, leaders championing the program

Shared ownership

HR contacts in multiple countries running it together

None of these teams treated wellbeing as a one-time event. They built it into how their company works, talks, and celebrates. The app gave them the tools; their people made it a habit.
