MANAGER TRAINING SERIES
Mental Health for Managers (2 Part Series)
As a manager, roles take on many forms. One thing that has become clear in today’s world is that mental health issues present themselves in all aspects of life and can be a concern in the workplace. As managers, it is important to have a baseline understanding of mental health concerns, tools and resources and confidence to talk about the subject with employees.
Session 1 (2 hours, but can be broken into 2 -1 hour sessions): In this workshop, you will hear from a licensed clinical therapist to provide a basic understanding and definitions of mental health terminology and ways to support employees while keeping appropriate boundaries and working relationships. We will focus on the stigma around mental health concerns, prevalence and dispel any misperceptions around common mental health diagnoses. Then participants will then learn more about how to support employees and ways to prioritize their own emotional self-care. Lastly, the training will conclude with company-specific resources for continued support. Providing resources and allowing for an open discussion about how the information has been utilized and focus on answering questions and having peer discussion on best practices from each other.
Session 2 (Group Discussion): To finish off all managers will have the opportunity to actively join in an open discussion about best mental health practices in their organization. This will also be an opportunity to share what best practices you have implemented for yourself and for your team, and discuss the challenges you faced or successes you made. Note, the Coach will not be providing therapy. The speaker will facilitate a conversation around the issue and share tools to shift negative thinking.
EMPLOYEE TRAINING SERIES
Mental Health at Work Program (Three Part Program):
In today’s world we are more and more open about mental health concerns than ever before. Although there is still a lot of work to be done to minimize stigma, it is common for leadership to recognize the need to discuss mental health at work. Someone’s emotional health can have a large impact on a workplace. This workshop is designed to provide education about mental health and dispel myths and misperceptions that may have a detrimental effect in and out of the work environment.
It is important to have a baseline understanding of mental health concerns, tools and resources and confidence to talk about the subject as it can have a huge impact on productivity and work environment and culture. A person’s overall wellness is a critical aspect of a thriving organization. In this three workshop series attendees will hear a licensed clinical therapist dispel myths, provide definitions of common mental health diagnoses and discuss appropriate ways to support reports. The first workshop will focus on the prevalence and stigma around mental health, as well as dispel any misperceptions around common mental health terms.
In the second workshop participants will learn more about how to support their reports and peers in their environment. Participants will also be given tools to prioritize their own mental health and emotional self-care. The third workshop in the series is designed to be more organization specific. In that workshop the therapist will also practice self-care and mindfulness tools with participants as well as organization specific resources. There will also be time dedicated to an open discussion about how the information from the first two sessions has been utilized and focus on interactive sharing of best practices and pull through of the information provided in the first two workshops.
